People often ask me where I get my ideas for the furniture and sculpture that I create. Over the past 30 years my work has taken me in many different directions. Early influences included traditional woodworking, Arts and Crafts style furniture and Art Deco. I then began to look to cubist and futurist painting for inspiration and later moved on to areas as diverse the art of the Southwest, geology and weather patterns. Over the past several years I have been putting all of this together by writing books and magazine articles on woodworking and design. This has allowed me to explore many new ideas and to look again at the traditional techniques that underlie everything I do.
